What You Know IS Worth Something

Everybody knows something.  That’s a given.

But here’s a further thought – everyone knows something that you don’t.  Yup.

So, let’s go one step further:

Everyone knows something that you don’t that is worth you knowing.

Now we’re getting somewhere!

See, I had the chance today (and continuing tomorrow) to give seminars on music editing to the best of Australia’s calisthenics coaches, at the ACFCC National Calisthenics Conference, which is being held at Etihad Stadium here in Melbourne.

For me, the stuff I was teaching on was a given in my industry and in what I do. But to these coaches, it was important to know, important to learn, and important to take on board.  There were a lot of the people in the two sessions I had today.  There were lots of questions – good questions.  I handed out more business cards in 4 hours than I have in the last 12 months.

Why?

Because I knew something that other people didn’t that was worth knowingeven if I didn’t realise its value myself.

So, I want to turn the spotlight on you.  What is it that you know something about that is worth other people knowing.  It can be anything.  Any topic.  Any area.  From knitting to astrophysics.  What you need to realise is that even if you don’t think that you have anything to offer, other people believe you do.  All you have to do is offer it, put it out there.

A friend of mine has recently started a new blog, and is discovering a very similar thing.  She knows something that other people find worth in knowing.  That’s a powerful self-affirming fact.  Everyone has a story to tell.  Everyone has learned a lesson in a unique and personal way.  All that it takes is for you to offer it to people: and people will accept.  They’ll accept gratefully – particularly once you find your audience.

The audience is the key here.  There’s no point in talking about vegetarianism in the steak house!  But if you know a lot about how to cook vegetarian, then start a blog about it.  Teach classes at your local TAFE (or college).  Put what you know out there!

So what are you waiting for?  What you know IS worth something – now believe it and find your audience!

Until tomorrow,

Blog ya later!
